2015

In 2015 the debating team had all new members who were first time debaters. They worked hard on their debating skills and improved immensely throughout the competition. They learnt to work as a team and came up with some impressive arguments. Their skills in rebutting, one of the most difficult aspects of debating, improved measurably. Ella, Bailey and Sebastian represented our school with pride. Charlotte came on board in the final debate as a replacement for Liberty, who left the school.

Debate

For the first debate, our team was arguing that junk food should be sold in school canteens. We were up against Bungwahl P.S, who have won a World Environment Award for their Kitchen-Canteen initiative, so we had tough competition on our hands! The result was very close, however, Bungwahl won with a slight lead and then proceeded to serve homemade, healthy muffins and vegetable treats from their school canteen.

The second debate was against Hallidays Point Public School on the topic "Computers are Good for Us" and the final debate against Tuncurry Public School was that "Children Should Work for their Pocket Money". The Tuncurry students had some very strong rebuttals and won. We are looking forward to next year's debating competition.
