Stage 2 classes from Forster Public School travelled to Timbertown Heritage Theme Park at Wauchope. The sights and sounds of our fascinating past are re-created in a living, working sawmillers' village set in an 1880-1910 timewarp.
This excursion was planned to complement class work this year in the HSIE unit on Australia undertaken by Stage 2 students. The park is a wonderful resource for Primary Schools in this area.
The classes had an early morning start and departed Forster at 7.30 am.
When we arrived at Timbertown we were greeted with freshly baked scones with jam and cream.
Classes were allocated a group and a timetable for the day and experienced a range of activities including:-
Bullock demonstration, kitchen and farmyard, old school, old sawmill, lake view, Heritage Steamtrain, Chocolate Factory, woodturning, blacksmith and Wallace's Store, Horse Drawn Wagon Ride, Bush Walking, gold panning.
It was a wonderful excursion and thoroughly enjoyed by the 190 students who attended.
