Year 3 and Year 4 Students from Forster Public School enjoyed a visit to the Shortlands Wetlands Environmental Education Centre recently. This Centre near Newcastle, enables students to be introduced to a variety of plants and animals that depend on the Wetlands. The program promotes the intergration of environmental education with all Learning Areas within the school curriculum.
The children spent their day dip-netting, experiencing the Discovery Classroom( including microscopes) , a Wetland walk to view the birdlife on the outer ponds, and viewing live and static displays of the Wetland Animals. The students summed the trip up as "Awesome".
