Welcome to the Forster Public School website. I hope your visit to our site provides you with an insight to the wonderful learning opportunities available to your child.

Forster Public School is a vibrant learning environment proudly catering for the diverse needs of 700 students. The school is situated adjacent to the ocean and has outstanding facilities. We are fortunate to have a Support Unit for students with disabilities which is an integral part of our school.

We are a Kid's Matter and Positive Behaviour for Learning  school  nuturing  and supporting  wellbeing across the school. Our core beliefs are based around Safety, Respect and Personal Best.  Our vision is to work together to create a learning culture to support students achieve to their full potential. The school has extensive pastoral care programs to support students and utilises expert support staff to deliver our intervention programs across the school.  The school has a range of programs to extend gifted and talented students and enters a range of academic competitions including Mathematics, English, Science, Spelling, Writing and Computer Education, Debating, Public Speaking, Premier's Reading Challenge, Premier's Sporting Challenge, Premier's Spelling Bee as well as enrichment classes for senior students.

We offer a  comprehensive sporting and outstanding creative arts programs including public speaking, debating, choirs, dance and two bands (training and concert). Our classrooms are equipped with the latest technology including interactive whiteboards and easy internet access. Technology is integrated into classroom activities, with the teaching  of robotis and other STEM programs weekly.

The school has a passionate, highly skilled and dedicated staff. They build positive relationships with families and devote enormous time and effort to ensure that students are able to access a high quality curriculum and quality teaching. Students also have access to a wide range of extra-curricula activities, many of which take place outside of normal classroom hours. We are fortunate to be supported by an active parent community. The great partnership forged through the P&C Association, the parent helper programs, classroom helpers, volunteers/working bees, in the uniform shop, in the canteen and in support of major projects (kitchen/garden project) is highly valued and appreciated. The school also has strong links with and support from the local community.

We are proud of our award winning garden program and, in partnership with the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation, involve children in growing, harvesting, preparing, sharing and learning about food. Our curriculum provides students with positive food experiences that can lead them to a lifetime habit of healthy eating.

We are a proud member of the Great Lakes Learning Community. We have strong links with local child care centres to ensure an excellent transition to Kindergarten for our students. Our ongoing partnership with Great Lakes College (Forster and Tuncurry) has enabled us to develop comprehensive transition programs as Year 6 students prepare for their high school journey.

To support our many working families a Vacation Care program, staffed by fully trained child care professionals, is on site during holiday periods.
