Wetlands Excursion

Stage 2 from Forster Public School have enjoyed an excursion to the Wetlands Environmental Education Centre in Newcastle. Students were introduced to a variety of plants and animals that depend on wetlands. The Shortland Wetlands is a managed wetland reserve with both artificial and natural water features accessed by decks and established walking tracks.

The full day program included a Powerpoint introduction and Discovery Activities including dipnetting to sample live pond animals. The Discovery Classroom with microscopes and hands-on activities. The Wetland Walk to view birdlife on the outer ponds as well as a visit to the Visitor's Centre to see live and static displays of Wetland animals. It was a wonderful Educational and Social Experience.

 

Jasmin and Sophia loved the bird watching across the lake.
